City of San Fernando, Pampanga—The Department of Education Regional Office III announces the Region-wide Search for Students of the Bataan High School for the Arts for the School Year 2020-2021.

In line with Republic Act No. 11190 known as “Creating a High School for the Arts”, the said search aims to identify students who are artistically talented in dancing,      singing,    theater arts, visual arts, and creative writing. Likewise, the call for aspiring students also seeks to promote and preserve the Filipino program for the traditions of the arts.

All applicants must be a bona fide resident of Region III and must not be older than 14 years of age upon enrolment or on June 8, 2020. He or she must also be a graduating Grade VI student of any public or private school and must be able to submit the initial requirements for the specific discipline of interest he or she wishes to pursue.

For those who are interested to apply for Theatre Arts, applicants must submit a 3-minute acting performance or one (1) 3-minute creative musical presentation in a compatible video format.

For those wishing to apply under Music (Vocal/Instrumental), the requirements for Vocal (Female Only) include a music performance presentation in a compatible video format of at least two (2) from the choices of Kundiman or Filipino song classic piece, an Italian song from the anthology of Italian songs of the17th century or any foreign classical song, or a Broadway Musical Song. For the Instrumental, the requirements include at least two (2) from scales and arpeggios in at least two (2) octaves; choice of classical music or kundiman, or any song choice.

For Dance (Folk Dance/Ballet), a dance performance in a compatible video format in the area of interest must be submitted. On the other hand, for Visual Arts, the requirement is an artist portfolio or five (5) samples of produced artwork in a digital format (PDF file).

For Creative Writing or Malikhaing Pagsulat, six (6) samples of written works (e.g. short story, poetry, play, essays, etc.) in Filipino and/ or English (PDF file) must be submitted.
